Carmel Seymour
Loving these pencil drawings by Carmel Seymour. Especially the first one, A Walk with a Park.

I'm Old
Yesterday was my birthday. We had a relaxing dinner at the Brew Pub and then enjoyed the weather while cleaning up more debris from our back patio. I enjoyed myself enormously. People even got me stuff. Eric gave me a really amazing duffle from Everlane, Spencyr sent me a ridiculously hilarious cat sweater, and the cat... well.... the cat brought us a baby bunny. Happy birthday to me. The happy part was that it was still alive and could be set free.
I am suuuuper excited about this weekender. My current luggage consists of a giant suitcase and a flimsy white KMart duffle that I've had since high school. Needless to say, this will be a welcome addition to my attempts at travelling in style ;)
This sweater is absurd and I love it.
And this little guy... absurdly cute. Thanks for the thought, I guess, Kitty?

Spring!
This morning was gorgeous. I spent most of it outside, repotting plants and watching the cat race across the yard like a maniac. It was glorious.

Over the Weekend: Stair Demolition
Since we're getting new siding (and boarding up our current back door for a new sliding one), the old concrete stairs had to go.
Eric was super excited to use a jackhammer.
But sometime between hour three and six, jackhammering ceased to be fun.
I took this picture this morning. We've hauled a bit of the bigger pieces back to the alley (waiting for a truck to magically appear and take them away) but the smaller ones we will probably sneakily distribute into the back dumpsters.
Step one of our backyard makeover (almost) complete!

Poor guy. It was a loooot of work. Sometimes I wish I had manlier muscles so I could help with things like this.

And Our House Color Shall Be....
... (drumroll please).....
Prairie Grass!
Thank you so much to everyone who called, texted, or emailed their opinion to us. Prairie Grass seemed to be the crowd favorite with Pinecone and Smokestone tied for second and a few outlying (albiet loud) cries for "Spiceberry!" I'm so glad I'm not the only one who cares about the color of our future siding :) You guys are the best!!!

Photoshopped House Colors
Remember these colors from yesterday?
Last night, I photoshopped our house in the sample colors so we could get an idea of what each would look like. I skipped the Khaki and Spiceberry (our neighbor's house is straight up khaki, and I do not want a red house) but the rest are as follows:
Fieldstone:
Pinecone:
Smokestone:
Prairie Grass:
Now, when we first looked at the samples, Eric's favorites were Fieldstone and Smokestone (I had no idea and just went along with him), but after seeing them on the house, we were surprised to find that we liked the greens the best. It's a bit difficult to tell what color they'll actually be since transferring sample colors from a crappy phone photo to photoshop is not an exact science, but hopefully this can give you some idea of what we're working with. Any thoughts, suggestions? We're picking one tomorrow! Ready or not!
