Summer food

A few of my favorite recipes as per Kristi's request:
(HINT: If you click the recipe it will open in a new window and you can print these 3x5 recipe cards!)
My mom makes this salad every summer! I love it!
This recipe is courtesy of my friend Molly, an amazing cook! It's on her blog too
And this recipe is a new one I found. I love gouda.

We now own a chair!

This last weekend found me home in Kalispell. One of my good friends from high school was getting married so the rest of our volleyball team met up to celebrate. We had almost too much fun; and though I didn't get much sleep, there was a little time for shopping......

My first furniture purchases!!!!!

I got the chair because I like the neutral color...and the tufting....and it's INSANELY comfortable....basically I like it a lot. I'm just a little concerned about the quality.....but I'm thinking it may end up in our bedroom so it won't have a lot of traffic anyway. We'll see.

The rug is wool, and while I usually avoid patterns like this I couldn't resist the hooked wool and amazing price. I think it will end up next to our bed after we've ripped up the carpet, removed the cabinets, made our headboard (see what it'll look like here), and purchased some bedside tables and a tufted ottoman storage chest thing....as you can see, I know exactly what I want in my bedroom. Pretty clueless when it comes to any other room.

The lamp is from Target. I've been wanting a curved floor lamp but they're usually pretty pricey so this inexpensive version is a good alternative.

The throw is also from Target. It's so, so soft!

On a completely different note, I just received the upholstery samples I ordered in the mail! This one. And this one. I love them both a lot! They are great quality and I love the texture; I just need to pick the color! Getting closer to a decision!!!

Garage clean-up

With a good cleaning, fresh coat of paint (covering the dark turquoise that it was before), and a new light fixture, our old garage is slowly becoming more usable. Half of it is full of things we're storing for a friend right now, but pretty soon we should be able to get both cars inside!

Eric made a sweet ski rack and I can tell he's getting impatient to have room to organize all his manly tools.

Adam got us started on the painting....

Eric's awesome ski rack
...and the new light he installed (he's so proud of it)

Don't judge us - the stuff on the right isn't ours. Btw, we have an organ. If you can haul it, you can have it!
My addition. Perhaps too girly for the garage, but we can't have mud tracked through the house!

The post that Blogger ate

A little over a month ago, Adam came to stay with us and help with a few of the many projects we have to do in our new home. He got SO MUCH DONE! He took off our entire back porch, worked on the plumbing, painted us a lovely mural of a school bus on our garage wall, and even did the dishes several times! It was heaven (the doing-the-dishes part, anyway)!

While Eric and Adam were ripping out the back porch (they didn't let me help much as soon as Eric heard me calling the drill a "screw gun") I was busy painting our picnic table.

Here are a few pictures of Adam and Eric hard at work ripping out the back porch....and a couple more of my lovely painted table!
