Lookit I Made: Leo DaV

I definitely need to draw more. Being able to draw is the basic skill needed for any artistically employed being. A graphic designer who can't draw is like a basketball player who can't dribble or a trapeze artist who is afraid of heights or a monkey that's allergic to bananas.  Or...something.....

I tried sketching from a photograph a couple of weeks ago - something I should normally be able to do with no major problems - and it was disastrous. My shading skills had vanished, my perspective was off....it was really depressing. So I'm forcing myself to start with the basics. Not the crazy basics where you can only look at your thumb as you draw it one zillion times, but like the old school basics where you copy a master until you learn all his secrets. Or....something......

I checked out a few books from the library, mostly of masters I love, and while I haven't spent as much time with them as I should, I did get the chance to draw this guy this morning. I'm excited to learn to draw again!
